142 year old fob watch. Approximately 36mm diameter.
The case is absolutely immaculate. The engravings are fresh and consistent. No rubbing. No dents. Both hinges are fine. The caseback button works.
The English cylinder movement has a good balance and is most likely dirty. I do not have the key to test it to wind. I don’t believe that the movement would take much work to get it running.
Some damage to the dial, however as there is no sub dial it wouldn’t be too hard to find a suitable alternative.
Engraved inside the dust cover. In memory of my dear mistress. Miss Whistler. 16 Sept 1882. Hallett Hastings. The Whistler family famously moved from Chelsea to Hastings a few years earlier. It is likely that this watch was owned by a member of the family.
